Novice Network Marketer Finds Formula For Success By Giving Back
Bette isn't as interested in building her Isagenix® business as she is in building people into strong, successful and healthy business leaders. It's a surprising revelation considering the 72-year-old from Colorado is earning the income others only dream of as an Isagenix millionaire.
"You realize when you get older that your legacy is more important than what you do or how much money you make," shares Bette, who has been with Isagenix since 2002. "My business has never been about the money. It has always been more about helping someone else grow into the person who can accomplish their own vision and dream."
And her giving back formula for success is definitely working.
With top leaders in each leg, Bette is able to fully express the generous spirit she has had since her youth. Whether it's giving to an individual in need or buying a silver Volkswagen Beetle for her 50-year-old daughter on her birthday, Bette enjoys giving to others. She has even hired a staff to help her with legal, travel and event planning and purchased a home she refers to as the "IsaHouse" where her office is located and where she hosts meetings and tastings.
The 6-Star Golden Circle, 2-Star Crystal Executive is even planning to live out a 10-year dream — taking her six children and nine grandchildren on an all-expenses paid vacation to Hawaii. She says it's "the most wonderful thing I could've ever imagined."
A relatively novice network marketer when she was introduced to Isagenix, Bette says she never enjoyed the idea of selling products. Instead she opted more for a softer approach to connecting and supporting other like-minded entrepreneurs she found at business gatherings and Chamber of Commerce meetings, which has been the biggest builder for her business.
"I would definitely characterize my approach as 'others-focused.' I do my best to recognize their needs and offer solutions," shares Bette. "I prefer a warmer approach. This keeps me from ever feeling like I am doing cold-calling."
Bette's business started slow, but it grew steadily. One of the biggest jumps for her was when a business builder joined her team. That's when she noticed her cycles really kicking in. It has taken her six years to go from making a couple hundreds of dollars a month, to a six-figure income and eventually reach the million-dollar mark.* The most important thing, shares Bette, is to stick with it and never give up.
According to Bette, it's also important to recognize that everyone has strengths and a niche they feel more comfortable with. She found that the best way to build a strong team is to offer multiple options to help them find the best sales approach to work within their style.
One way she is helping her team members achieve more success is through the Healthy Church Program she has co-created with other top leaders in her organization. The program is designed to reach parishioners who want to improve their health. The message is simple. The goal is to create awareness of Isagenix as a highly nutritional substitute to what they're already consuming with no extra money out of their pockets and as a solution to many of their health and financial needs.
"Many leaders in my organization want to serve others and work with people in many faith-based communities, not just their own church. We know we can do it through the Isagenix products and opportunity," explains Bette. "God has given us gifts and we're using them the best way we know how."
She's planning to launch the business-building program throughout churches across the country starting in early 2009. She believes it will be one more way to build her legacy, grow others and help them realize their true potential.
"As leaders, we know that Isagenix is the solution for many, many people and not just for the business opportunity," shares Bette. "There's no one that Isagenix can't help. When we grasp the big picture we can share it with the rest of the world."
